Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
Each meal you pack, fund and pray over equips FMSC partners to do transformative work around the world. Hunger relief is usually just part of what our partners do — but food is the foundation for so much more.
The Power of Sustainable Development
At FMSC, we believe that food is the first step toward a better future — and food assistance goes hand in hand with community development. FMSC uses Project Based Food Assistance (PBFA) to partner with communities for a single goal: sustainable, locally driven and community-led food security. Learn more about PBFAs »
We recently launched a new PBFA initiative in the Philippines. Watch our new mini-documentary to see how PBFAs are transforming communities in the Philippines and around the world.
The Philippines | Asia
Population facing moderate or severe food insecurity: 44.7% (FAO, 2023)
The Philippine islands are ranked the most vulnerable place in the world for natural hazards — including typhoons, earthquakes, landslides and volcanic eruptions (World Risk Index, 2023). Frequent natural disasters coupled with social inequality fuel persistent hunger and malnutrition, despite economic growth.
Children under age 5 with low height for their age are considered stunted. Stunting is generally caused by chronic undernutrition. More than 1 in 4 children in the Philippines suffer from stunting (World Food Programme).
FMSC food supports our partners’ work in the DRC, including:
- Disaster relief and recovery
- Post-trauma counseling
- Business training and microenterprise investment
Featured partners: Children's Hunger Fund, Philos Health, International Care Ministries
