Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
Each meal you pack, fund and pray over equips FMSC partners to do transformative work around the world. Hunger relief is usually just part of what our partners do — but food is the foundation for so much more.
WORLD HUNGER DAY IS MAY 28
Hunger is not just about food — it's about the future. And for millions of children, that future is at risk. On World Hunger Day, we remember the staggering truth: Hunger is still one of the world’s deadliest threats — and one of the most solvable.
Your action today can help rewrite the story.

Burkina Faso | Africa

Percentage of children under 5 suffering from chronic malnutrition: 21.7% (UNICEF, 2023)
Burkina Faso is facing one of the world’s fastest-growing hunger crises.
Armed violence has forced one in 10 people from their homes and shut down more than 5,000 schools. These attacks often cut off access to food, health care and aid. At the same time, climate extremes — swings between drought and flooding — are devastating crops. Most families depend on small farms to survive, so even a short dry spell or heavy rain can mean no food.
Right now, 2.7 million people in Burkina Faso are going hungry. Children are especially at risk.
What is the “lean season”?
It’s the hardest time of the year for families who farm to survive. Last year’s harvest is gone but the next one hasn’t begun — and for many, there’s nothing left.
From June to August, this “lean season” will push hunger to its peak. Across the region, nearly 53 million people could face severe food insecurity. For 3 million, the risk is life-threatening.
FMSC partners use MannaPack® meals to support work in Burkina Faso, including:
- Clean water access programs
- Community support, including care for the elderly
- Displacement relief, including essentials for internally displaced people (IDP)
