5 reasons to volunteer at FMSC this summer

5 reasons to volunteer at FMSC this summer

When you’re making plans for this summer, make time for a shift at your local Feed My Starving Children site! Here are the top five reasons your time will be well spent feeding kids:

1. Summer is our slowest volunteer season

Summer is the time for fun vacations and time off your regular routine. This means summertime FMSC packing rooms have the most open spots, which makes it harder to pack the meals our partners are counting on.

Every shift you attend this summer helps provide meals children depend on to grow and thrive.

If you typically have a hard time finding a spot at your site (we’re looking at you, North Texas!), this is a good time to try looking for availability.

2. Volunteers help us respond to world events

We’re feeding children around the globe behind the major headlines you see about war, famine and natural disasters.

We have promised meals to our food distribution partners, but when you show up to pack, you’re helping us also respond. If a partner says they need emergency meals, we want to be able to say yes.

When you pack this summer, you help provide lifechanging meals for children who depend on them year-round.

3. Volunteering at FMSC is easy and accessible

There aren’t too many activities you can bring your kindergartener and grandma to that they’ll both enjoy — but packing meals at FMSC is one!

Ages 5 and up, of all abilities, have a place in our packing rooms. From the warehouse runners to the meal assembly teams to the sit-down labeling crew, there’s something everyone can do.

Also, while we are a Christian nonprofit, you do not have to be Christian to volunteer or receive our meals. All are welcome at FMSC!

4. Enjoy a screen-free activity that does good

Volunteering at FMSC is an activity that will give you that reset you need.

You’ll barely notice the time is flying by — without the endless scrolling. Instead, you’ll be making a difference for hungry kids around the world.

And just so we’re clear, screen-free doesn’t mean you’ll be roughing it. You’ll beat the heat in our air-conditioned facilities (we’re looking at you, Arizona friends).

5. Get together for a free group activity this summer

Turn your group chat plans into a real outing this summer. Get together your friends, family or company — really, any group — and have fun while doing good for others.

See more about what your group can get out of the experience here.

So, text your friend and ask them to pack meals with you! Sign up to volunteer this summer and turn hunger into hope with your own two hands.

Don’t forget: When you volunteer this summer, make sure to pick up a Summer Hunger Challenge punch card!
