Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
“He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry…” – Psalm 146:7
In a mountainous region in southern Guatemala, Teresa sells firewood to provide for herself and her adult son with special needs. These sales allow the family to eat omelets, tortillas and coffee – not as much nutrition as she hopes for.But there is a high poverty rate where Teresa lives, so business is often tough for the 72-year-old. She and her son often go without food altogether.
Feed My Starving Children partner, Food For The Poor, is able to provide Teresa and her son with nutritious FMSC meals.
“The blessing of the MannaPack™ allows her to bring a little bit of diversity to their meals while providing key vitamins,” Food For The Poor staff said.
The Importance of a Healthy Diet
This World Food Day, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is focusing on the importance of a healthy diet in ending world hunger.
FMSC meals are an important part of healthy diets for children and families around the world.
That’s because MannaPack Rice is designed to complement other foods, like fruits and vegetables, as a part of a well-balanced diet. The micronutrients in MannaPack meals contain vitamins and minerals that are essential for children’s diets, especially in food insecure areas.
So every time you pack or fund FMSC meals, you are not only saving lives, you are making a statement: “Nutrition matters.” And that goes a long way in the fight against world hunger. Thank you.
Sign up to pack meals on October 16.
Fund lifesaving nutrition today.
