We ran out of food.

We only had enough meals to last through early April. Our partners have asked for more than 400 million meals this year, but there was nothing more to send them.

When COVID-19 came to the U.S. it meant that we had a difficult decision to make. The safety of our staff and volunteers seemed to be at odds with the commitment we had made to our partners to feed 1 million children a day.

We had to suspend meal packing through at least July 31.

We never imagined we would have to make a decision like this. But we serve a God who has never let us down, even in the darkest valleys. And God keeps showing up.

We are not out of Hope.

Perhaps the most inspiring God moment has been the response of our overseas partners who upon hearing we didn’t have food, responded in faith.

“We still have hope that the Lord is in control and is way ahead of us,” one of our partners said.

He IS way ahead of us and He IS in control. FMSC staff are uniting in prayer in ways we’ve not seen before. We are partnering with Karlsburger Foods Inc., a longtime supplier where we purchase our vitamin powder, to use their facility to package bulk meals for orphanages, schools and hospitals. We are diligently working to find even more ways to pack meals until our volunteers can safely return. Our faithful donors continue to fund meals to feed kids despite economic uncertainty. And by the grace of God, a few containers of bulk meals are on their way to our partners.
