Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
Each year, hurricane season — recognized June 1 through November 30 — grows more unpredictable and dangerous, arriving with powerful winds, torrential rains and devastating floods. For millions around the world, it's not just a seasonal inconvenience, it’s a life-threatening crisis — one that pushes already vulnerable families deeper into hunger and poverty.
Hurricane season and hunger
In many of the communities we serve, families rely on local crops to survive. They plant what they eat. They raise the animals that provide their only source of protein. But hurricanes destroy everything in their path — crops, livestock, homes, schools. And when food is lost, so is hope.
These disasters don't just cause temporary hunger — they push communities deeper into long-term food insecurity. Children go without meals. Parents skip eating so their kids can have something. Malnutrition rises. And the road to recovery becomes even harder.
How FMSC helps
We believe that no child should go hungry — especially in the wake of disaster during hurricane season. Our nutritionally complete meals are often some of the first to reach areas hit hardest by storms. Thanks to our network of distribution partners and volunteers, we can provide food where it’s needed most — even when roads are washed out or the infrastructure is damaged.
But hunger doesn’t wait — and neither can we.
Our mission is to respond quickly, sending lifechanging meals to our partners on the ground who are working tirelessly to help their communities survive and recover. With your help, we can ensure that when disaster strikes, hope arrives just as fast.
How you can help during hurricane season — and beyond
This hurricane season, your help is more critical than ever. Whether you're looking to make a difference with your hands or your heart, there are two powerful ways to get involved:
- Volunteer: Come to a packing event and be part of the hands-on work that fuels our mission.
- Donate: Your financial support allows us to respond quickly when disaster strikes and sustain our long-term efforts in the hardest-hit areas.
Together, we can bring hope to the eye of the storm. Bring hope to those who need it the most, take action now
