Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
Just over two years ago, we launched a Project Based Food Assistance (PBFA) site in Nakwanya, Uganda — a community long overlooked in the wake of a 20-year civil war. While other regions received help from NGOs and the government, Nakwanya was largely left behind. That’s why, in partnership with Feed The Hungry (FTH) and the Irene Gleason Foundation (IGF), we chose it as the site of a new PBFA project.
This week, we returned to see the impact—and it was nothing short of remarkable.
What greeted us was a transformed community. A church now stands at the entrance to the village, built by FTH. Moms and dads welcomed us with hugs. Young carpenters proudly displayed their work, and girls held up shirts and school uniforms they sewed after just three weeks of training.
Everywhere we looked, the community was preparing for “Celebration Day.” Gospel music played under trees, and pots simmered as cooks prepared meals for more than 2,000 guests. A 40-foot container nearby overflowed with MannaPack® meals—packed by volunteers in Eagan just months earlier.
The Local Project Committee (LPC) shared what this project has meant. “This place was last. Now we see clearly where we are going,” said Jackson, a PBFA Committee Member.
Even Uganda’s Minister of State for International Affairs attended. “Why did you come this far to help us?” he asked. “There’s only one possible answer. It has to be God.”
We believe that too.
We’re grateful for this powerful collaboration and for your continued support that makes transformation like this possible — not just in Nakwanya, but around the world.
